The Festival that Almost Happened
Imagine a Woodstock-style festival on a farm outside Galena, Illinois - and it almost happened! Scheduled for July 31st through August 2nd, 1970, the festival was shut down by a local judge at that request of county and local law enforcement, who would have been overwhelmed (this was only three years after the '67 corn boil). The festival was moved to Wadena, Iowa.
